Tourists win flights to fireworks show in Vietnam

Forty foreign tourists will receive free airline tickets to attend the first international fireworks contest this year in Da Nang City, Vietnam as part of a tourism promotion campaign.

Nguyen Dang Truong, deputy director of the Tourism Department of Da Nang City, said the free tickets included five donated by Vietnam Airlines, 15 by Thai PB Airlines and 20 by Singaporean Silk Airlines.

The first international fireworks contest to hold in Vietnam is scheduled from March 27-28 in Da Nang.

The contest will be held on the banks of the Han River, with fireworks displays staged by competitors from Hong Kong, Malaysia, Canada and Vietnam.

Other cultural and tourism festivities, as well as art and sports events, will also be held during the two-day event.

These include a beach culture and tourism festival, Gap Go Ba Na (Meeting Ba Na, a tourism getaway) festival, food and drink festival at the Pham Van Dong Park, ceramics exhibition on Bach Dang and Tran Hung Dao streets, a regatta on the Han River, farm trips and other tours linking Hue City and Hoi An ancient town.

The contest is expected to start at 10pm and conclude at 11pm on two consecutive nights.
